The Intelligence Park

Royal Opera House / London / Music

Irish composer Gerald Barry’s first opera—premiered in 1990 and not seen since—returns. The Intelligence Park is a chamber opera about opera, set in 1753, its plot a classic triangle: a homosexual composer loves a castrato who loves the composer’s rich female fiancée. Barry’s work is out there, so be ready for anything. —L.J.
